Hi everyone!

I'm a head coach of a rec atom hockey team here in Ontario.

The coaches and I just assigned our team captains but they have yet to be announced to the team.

I find myself struggling with how to word it to the boys. We've chosen the four best character players not necessarily the highest skilled players.

I could honestly give an "A" to every player but that's not an option.

Any tips or suggestions on how I can soften the blow to the kids not picked?

Thanks everyone.

OK... I don't have a suggestion but I do have a question.

If this is recreational Atom level why in the world are you picking captains and assistant captains??? There's no need to have those - just let the kids play without the burden of carrying a letter. Seriously.

Too young for C, A or any other letters.
