I came across this video in which a talk show host discusses how the NCAA is a business and student athletes get the short end of the stick. The commentators (although at times vulgar) makes some good points and if you have a star athlete it's worthwhile watching.

Some common *easy* questions you hear from parents and the answer the hockey coaches trying to recruit your kid:

  1. Parent: "Will my kid get playing time" / Coach: "your son/daughter will be double shifting"
  2. Parent: "How committed are you to my kid" / Coach: "VERY VERY committed"

Ask tougher questions.
